The following survey answers were gathered in a three month period from Addison and Chittenden Counties, as well as on-line. We asked people for three suggestions as to what we can do in our daily lives to support our planet. The more than 1500 diverse responses could be categorized into 43 unique ideas. You can scroll down to view all 43 including a few, very unique replies that we wanted to share with you.

After reading and sorting over 1,500 responses, we give you the current Top Ten Ways To Support Our Planet.

1. Both men and women should use and advocate birth control. Only have one or two children, or adopt one of the many orphans in the world today.

2. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Conserve. Live simply. Consume less.

3. Walk, ride a bike or a horse. Drive less and carpool or take a bus or train for long trips.

4. Buy earth friendly products. Grow and buy natural/organic Fair Trade, local if you can, foods. Grow gardens instead of lawns.

5. Think globally. Live sustainably.

6. Stop using non-recyclable containers. Bring your own bags to the store. Don't use plastics.

7. Buy or convert your car to be more fuel efficient. Reduce your carbon foot-print and avoid gas as much as possible. Don't idle your vehicle.

8. Be energy efficient in your home and workplace. Use energy efficient lights, refrigerators, washer/driers, etc. Turn off lights and appliances when you are not using them.

9. Treat others as you would have others treat you. Respect and help people.

10. Always vote in public officials who will advocate for environmental laws protecting air, water, and land. Stop funding public officers who don't advocate for Earth.
